Bassetts Ice Cream, Reading Terminal Market’s oldest vendor, joins forces with WHYY and Philadelphia’s leading independent frozen dessert artisans including The Franklin Fountain, Fisher’s Ice Cream, Bellissimo Gelato and Sorbet, Chilly Philly, and Georgeo’s Italian Ice for a day of frozen fun at the height of summer featuring demonstrations, games, contests, tastings, music, and more. All participating frozen dessert vendors will have their product for sale during the event. A sample size portion can be purchased for either $1 or $2.

The Dig It! project is experimenting with a style of farming created by revolutionary agriculturalist Masanobu Fukuoka, whose book, the One-Straw Revolution, turned modern farming on its head in the late 1970's. Chicques Creek Farm hosts a 5 acre field that is one of only a handful of "Fukuoka Farming" sites in North America. Come for a walk-through and discussion with Dig It! farming crew.
